Last Week of School

I can hardly believe how fast this year has gone.  Your Kindergarteners have worked so hard and grown physically, academically and socially this year!  I am very proud of each and every one of them. Kinders~Don’t forget to stop by and visit me next year. Parents~Thank you for entrusting me with your child this year.  I am truly blessed to work with such great kids and wonderful families at South.  Have a fabulous summer!  Have fun with your friends and family, relax in the sun and keep reading those books!  🙂

Now it’s time to celebrate all that hard work this school year!  Here are some of the highlights of the fun activities we have planned for this week:

  • Monday— Remember to wear your South Pride t-shirts for our assembly. It is also the 5th grade Science Fair—We will have fun seeing all the cool experiments our 5th grade friends have created.
  • Tuesday—K Celebration  2:45-3:15 in our classroom.  The students and I are excited for you to come hear them sing some of the cute songs they’ve learned.  Your child will also be reading some of their leveled books to you as well as one of their writing pieces from this year.  There will be light refreshments for you to enjoy.  We look forward to seeing you there!
  • Wednesday—Field Day–please remind your child to wear tennis shoes, sunscreen, bug spray and bring a water bottle with his/her name written on it.  For parents who have signed up to help out, please arrive by 9:00 to help set up and receive your directions for each event.  Any other parents who would like to come watch, you are more than welcome to join us.  The events will be outside on the playground from 9:30-11:00ish.
  • Thursday—Field Day (Rain date if we have to cancel on Wed.)

Cleaning up our room/supplies

-Reading Buddies Celebration with 2nd grade will be in the afternoon.

  • Friday—Beach Day–please remind your child to dress up for Beach Day (no bathing suits, please).  Wear your sunglasses, beach hats and bring your beach towels!! We will have fun doing some summer writing and reading outside on our beach towels with K friends from KB and KC.  Mrs. Newenhouse and Mrs. Anderson will read us a story about our Last Day in Kindergarten and have a special surprise gift for each of you!

It’s going to be a FUN-FILLED week!!

Welcome to summer!

Service Project–May 30-June 1

South Girls on the Run team is doing a Community Impact Project from now until Thursday.  The girls have decided to raise money in support of Emma Buron’s family.
They will be doing the following:
1. A pop can drive (Please put in barrels at front entrance.)
2. Car wash on Thursday, June 1st from 3:55-4:55 in the bus loop
3. A loose change drive, collected from cars at the car wash
Thank you in advance for honoring the girls efforts, initiatives, and very loving hearts in this process.  Thank you for your support in our efforts, as coaches, to show our girls what an amazing impact they can have on the community and most importantly in helping us continue to love on the Buron family.

Volunteer Appreciation Week

This week (May 22-26) is Volunteer Appreciation Week at South.  We want to say THANK YOU to all our wonderful volunteers.  We appreciate your help with flash cards, WEB books, making copies and projects at home like putting together Scholastic book orders.  As a small token of our thanks, you will notice many student-made posters lining the entrance hallway at school with our words of thanks.  Please also stop by the workroom (next door to the office) anytime this week for a special treat.  I’ll be sending home a small gift in your child’s folder as well.

Thanks for all you do to help out in our classroom!!  We appreciate you!
