Beach Day

Our last day of school was a great day!  The kids had fun reading at our pretend beach on the playground and writing with sidewalk chalk.  It’s always a bittersweet day as we look forward to the fun of summer, but also sad to say goodbye to another class.  I know they will all do great things as they learn and grow!!  Please remind your child to come visit me anytime in the Kindergarten hallway.  I always love to hear how they are doing in 1st grade and beyond!  Have a great summer!  🙂

Box Tops

Please remember to turn in those final Box Tops for the year that you’ve saved up at home.  They are due THIS FRIDAY, MAY 25.  It’s an easy fundraiser for our school, and if our class turns the most in this month, we could win popsicles or ice cream!!  Yay!!

“Light it Up Blue”~Autism Awareness month

In honor of Autism Awareness month, South has decided to “light it up blue” to show support for children with autism.  We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Mrs. Nienhouse, our art teacher, for organizing this event and teaching our children a little more about what it means when a person has autism.  Mrs. Nienhouse had all the teachers and students make a puzzle piece and she put this large puzzle together for us all to see.  How cool is that???  The students learned a lot this month about accepting each other’s differences and including all children in playtime, recess and classroom activities.  Thanks for being great kids who show SOUTH PRIDE to everyone in our school!!

Flashlight Fridays

Flashlight Fridays were a big hit during March!  The students were asking daily if it was “Flashlight Friday” yet?  They enjoyed reading by themselves, with partners and with our 2nd grade Reading Buddies.
