Red/White/Blue Day

In honor of Memorial Day, please remind your child to wear red/white/blue TOMORROW, FRIDAY, MAY 25.  We will be studying the importance of our American flag and what it means to our country, as well as learning the meaning of Memorial Day.

THANK YOU to all the men and women who selflessly serve or have served our country. [?]

Box Tops

Please remember to turn in those final Box Tops for the year that you’ve saved up at home.  They are due THIS FRIDAY, MAY 25.  It’s an easy fundraiser for our school, and if our class turns the most in this month, we could win popsicles or ice cream!!  Yay!!

Newenhouse News 5.7.18

We have a lot planned for this week and the children are really looking forward to our field trip on Wednesday.  We had to make one minor change for that day.  Huizenga Park, which we had planned to stop at on the way back from Holland, is under construction.  We will be stopping at Hager Park in Hudsonville after lunch instead.  Please remind your child to come dressed for the weather.  We will go rain or shine, and we are outside most all of the day.  We do a lot of walking and some of the walking is through long field grass which hurts their feet if they wear sandals or flip flops.  I recommend they were tennis shoes.  Also, please apply sunscreen/bug repellent in the morning before your child comes to school.  And don’t forget a sack lunch (unless you pre-ordered one through food service).  Thank you!

“Light it Up Blue”~Autism Awareness month

In honor of Autism Awareness month, South has decided to “light it up blue” to show support for children with autism.  We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Mrs. Nienhouse, our art teacher, for organizing this event and teaching our children a little more about what it means when a person has autism.  Mrs. Nienhouse had all the teachers and students make a puzzle piece and she put this large puzzle together for us all to see.  How cool is that???  The students learned a lot this month about accepting each other’s differences and including all children in playtime, recess and classroom activities.  Thanks for being great kids who show SOUTH PRIDE to everyone in our school!!
